Cosmetic Bonding

Brighter, straighter, picture-perfect smiles are something many of our patients believe are out of their reach. However, at Imagine Smiles, we offer a wide array of cosmetic dentistry services to improve the appearance of your teeth, correct flaws, and give you the confidence to share your smile in any situation. One of the most conservative solutions we provide is cosmetic bonding. This is a great option for patients who just want to tweak a few small flaws without losing healthy tooth structure or dramatically affecting their oral health.

When Should I Consider Cosmetic Bonding?

Cosmetic bonding is a good solution for those patients who have just a few, minor cosmetic flaws. If you’re looking to completely transform all the teeth you see when you smile, a more advanced treatment like porcelain veneers may be a better fit. However, if you have just minor chips or cracks, some areas with deep set staining, or small gaps between teeth, cosmetic bonding may offer you the ideal cosmetic solution.

How is Cosmetic Bonding Performed?

The cosmetic bonding process is actually the same treatment we use for tooth-colored fillings. Using a natural looking, custom shaded composite resin, we can fill in gaps or cracks, brighten discolored enamel, and otherwise perfect your smile. The treatment can be completed in just one appointment, and we often perform cosmetic bonding on the same day you visit for a cosmetic consultation.

We’ll begin by numbing the area to be treated. If there is decay or damage we may remove a small amount of structure, but in most cases, this is not necessary. Next, we apply an etchant material. This creates a more porous surface that allows the composite to create a stronger bond to the tooth. Next, we apply the putty-like composite resin. Once in place, we can shape the composite to create a flawless appearance. We use a curing light to harden the composite into position. Then, we polish and shine the teeth. You leave our office in just one appointment with a completely flawless new smile.

What are the Benefits of Cosmetic Bonding?

Cosmetic bonding is not an option for every patient. The best way to determine what cosmetic dentistry solution is right for you is to call our Blaine dental team to schedule a consultation. We’ll assess your smile and help you determine what services will give you the desired result. If you do decide cosmetic bonding is the ideal cosmetic dentistry solution, there are a number of benefits including:
